Kades Kounty is the one pub in the village. It always has top bands on Saturday and Sunday. Monday night is card night, many people coming from surrounding areas to play "45".

The building above, now a dwelling, is what remains of the Glenville forge where the late Tadg Cosgrove and John Cosgrove shoed horses for many years. The poem below recalls its importance in old village life.

"The Glenville forge has closed its door,
No longer anvils ring.
Those horses there we'll see no more,
Or hear the blacksmith sing,
For the forge is now but history,
A memory soon to be.
And many will look down its years,
Though none indeed as me…
Yet when we gathered there at night
We failed to comprehend,
But revelled in those happy days,
And thought they'd never end.
But alas it's true, it's now adieu,
For the blacksmith he has gone.
There's nought the forge can do for you,
Drive on my friend, drive on.

Murphy)

While the wind might blow,

and the rain might rain

in the cold dark days of Winter;

there's a cheery word,

and a place by the fire,

amongst a homely people.
